This year your child will be participating in a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) LAUNCH class. This is a new STEM program that is being added to your child’s K-5 curriculum. Your child will have a STEM teacher that he/she is scheduled to see once per week.
What is STEM?
Through weekly instruction in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, K-5 students learn problem-solving strategies, critical and creative thinking, and how to communicate and collaborate. Students apply knowledge from a variety of disciplines as they engage in hands-on activities, projects, and problems reflective of real-world scenarios and careers.
What are some examples of STEM activities?
Students build digital animations based on their own short stories.
Students design a robot that solves real world problems.
Students propose methods to prevent the spread of illness.
